With the help of Albert Einstein and other trusted advisors, President Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America's most valuable intellectual resources.

There our nation's greatest thinkers, the über-geniuses working on the next era of scientific achievement, would be able to live and work in a supportive environment.

Thus, the town of Eureka was born. But for all its familiar, small-town trappings, things in this secret hamlet are anything but ordinary.

Most of the quantum leaps in science and technology during the past 50 years were produced by Eureka's elite researchers, but years of experiments gone awry have yielded some peculiar by-products.

Before I Forget. Carter shoots Henry, but can't remember how or why -- but the visit of a noted scientist might hold a clue. Alien-abduction hysteria sparks the kidnapping of a congressman and puts Carter in a crossfire.

An artifact imbues a scientist with wondrous healing powers, but at a terrible price. Carter must help an aging scientist recover his memory in time to stop a doomsday device from destroying the world.

A performance-enhancing drug gives people a competitive edge Right As Raynes. Eureka's prodigal son returns and stirs up trouble in town Two disparate inventions merge into one high-tech nightmare that no one knows how to stop.

Purple Haze. Something has affected the townsfolk and Carter must figure out what before things get out of hand.

Once In A Lifetime. Eureka's future looks to be one of joy, but time-tampering might make it end in tragedy. Customers who watched this item also watched.

The cast does a fabulous job with their scientist characters dealing with the complexities of Eureka. I also am a huge fan of showing science elevated to the point that it is highlighted as a great career choice instead of traditional job roles on most TV shows.

SYFY did a great job with this show although my favorite seasons are the older not the newer as much. We've watched this many times, all the way through.

This is another "they don't make them like this anymore" kind of show. It's mostly family friendly, it's funny and entertaining and lovable.

I just wish it had lasted longer and ended better. My wife and I have been watching the show on Prime for months now.

We'd watch the show straight thru, finish and start over with the pilot. To say that we've been looking forward to getting the inside scoop and the commentaries to the episodes would be a vast understatement and S1 did NOT disappoint.

Cast members are involved in every single episode commentary making it very entertaining. Colin Fergeson does one episode by himself and it was hilarious!!!

We have since bought Seasons 2 and 3 and will be getting S4 and 5 before the end of the month. Watching it again with my Tweener has One of my all time top 5 favorite shows.

Watching it again with my Tweener has been just as much a thrill as it was the first time around. There are a few gross outs and sexual innuendo.

If your Tweener isn't on the mature side, you might want to wait a bit. I think it's rated PG These story lines are fresh and interesting.

There is no laugh track needed, you'll be in stitches at least twice just in the pilot episode. The dialog is extremely quick and witty, and the characters so well developed that it's impossible to pick favorites.

We love them all for their distinct personalities and quirks, so familiar already, that we can guess their reactions to certain situations, if not their words.

We love it when we guess wrong, we love it when we guess right. It's light and fun, but it does create curiosity and does provoke thoughtful discussion from time to time.

If it were more often the case, I might actually watch more than twice a year. For now though, on to season two with many thanx to writers, producers, directors, cast and crew.

Don't miss if you like quirky sci-fi! Quirky humor mixed with pretty legit sci-fi. Great acting! The actors and actresses really get comfortable with each other and in later seasons do an amazing job at 'switching body' acting, you can tell how well they know each others characters.

Some episodes are better than others. Like, much better. The 'to be continued' episodes are the best. Other episodes are hit or miss between stars.

I don't remember why but I suspect it had more to do with my frame of mind than the show because The characters are great, appealing, funny and believable.

The situations they get into are funny and mostly well-thought out. The setting, fictional Eureka Oregon, is beautiful and made me want to move there.

I have watched the first 4 seasons repeatedly. Sometimes I play them as background as I cook. Sometimes I need a little mood lift, a feel good, and most of the episodes from the first 4 seasons are perfect for that.

If your only experience with Eureka is from Season 5 on Amazon then you are really really missing out. In my opinion that is the least enjoyable season.

In this case its Dr Allison Blake. I had forgotten how fun a series this had been until I bought Season 1 on a whim.

The characters are a good mix. Just plain fun to watch. It seems to me that what makes the science behind this discovery so remarkable is that it was achieved by purely chemical means".

She was highly instrumental in the development of nuclear fission, but she did not invent it. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews.

America nearly lost the race to build the atomic bomb; it could not risk such a close call again. Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America's most valuable intellectual resources.

The best architects and planners were commissioned to design a welcoming place for these superlative geniuses to reside, an area that would offer the best education for their children, the best healthcare, the best amenities and quality of life.

A community was created to rival the most idyllic of America's small towns -- with one major difference: this town would never appear on any maps.

At least, none that haven't been classified "eyes only" by the Pentagon. Thus, the town of Eureka was born.

The stereotype of the absent-minded professor exists for a reason, and most of the quantum leaps in science and technology during the past 50 years were produced by Eureka's elite researchers.

Unfortunately, scientific exploration is rarely what one expects, and years of experiments gone awry have yielded some peculiar by-products.

From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk stem from life's myriad of everyday challenges.

But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems.

It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins. Thank you for your feedback.

Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Eureka season 1 is an undemanding series. No complicated plots or deep emotions. However it can be funny and the bonus materials indicate an enthusiastic following as shown by fake infomercials and webisodes for serious fans.

First the poor bits. Each crisis is often caused by a superscience mishap and seems to often be solved by a device invented for the purpose.

Jo Morton playing genius garage mechanic Henry, almost seems to mimic Mr Spock regularly saving the Enterprise by reversing the polarity on gobbledygook.

A lot of the "science" is just fantasy and wish fulfilment - and might as well be magic. In the past weeks, our colleagues across the network have been banging their virtual heads together to put in place support measures for businesses and researchers to find COVID19 solutions.
